Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh Laya Madduri on Wednesday said the district administration is ready for the publication of the first draft of National Register for Citizens (NRC) in Dibrugarh on December 31.

In a press conference, Madduri said as per Supreme Court order they will publish the first draft of NRC on December 31.

“We appeal to the people to avail the internet to check their name in the websites–www.nrcassam.nic.in, www.assam.gov.in  www.assam.mygov.in www.homeandpolitical.assam.giv.in. In all the NRC seva Kendra’s on December 31 the first draft list will be come up and if someone’s name is not there in the list he or she would not panic or be afraid because our verification process is going on. It’s a continous process,” the DC said.

Madduri  added, “We would also like to make it clear that the publication of the draft NRC is not the end of the process and against such draft publications, claims and objections of the aggrieved parties can be filed, which naturally will be verified in accordance with law,”

She said the names of the entire family members may not be mentioned in the part publication because the verification is not finished and it will be complete after the final draft.

“The claims and objections should be filed only after complete publication of the draft NRC. The final NRC will be published after the disposal of the claims and objections,” Madduri said.

The DC mentioned that in Dibrugarh district they have not found any forged documents submitted during the NRC process so far. “We have identified some of the vulnerable areas in the district and have informed the police about it,” the DC said.
