Assam floods death toll rises to 105 as nearly 32,000 people remain affected across four districts, ASDMA reports.

Guwahati: Assamโ€™s flood situation showed signs of improvement on August 17, even as one more person drowned in Sivasagar, taking the flood-related death toll in the state to 105, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).

The latest ASDMA bulletin said nearly 31,900 people across four districts-Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon and Sivasagar continue to be affected by the floods.

Nagaon remains the worst-hit district, with nearly 20,000 people affected, followed by Jorhat with more than 5,000 and Sivasagar with over 4,500. The number marks a significant improvement from Sunday, when around 52,000 people across five districts were affected.

Authorities are operating 15 relief camps and distribution centres in the four affected districts, providing assistance to 2,782 people.

Despite the gradual improvement, floodwaters continue to submerge 147 villages across the state. Cropland spread over 3,198.77 hectares has also been damaged.

The floods have caused damage to several embankments, roads, bridges and other infrastructure, the ASDMA said.

The disaster has also affected 16,323 livestock and poultry across Assam.
