Dimapur: Nagalandโ€™s Mokokchung DC Ajit Kumar Verma on Thursday constituted a specialised sub-committee under the District Skill Committee to promote skill development, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihood opportunities across the district.

The sub-committee brings together a diverse panel of administrative officials, educational leaders, and community representatives, with the Mokokchung ADC as the convener and Principal of Government ITI, Mokokchung, T Imlisunep Ao, as the member secretary.

The committee has been assigned a comprehensive mandate to transform the district’s socioeconomic landscape.

The panel will identify district-specific skill gaps and map emerging livelihood opportunities aligned with the local economic potential.

A key focus will be on promoting coordination among government departments, educational institutions, industry bodies, and community organisations.

The committee will work towards encouraging innovation, entrepreneurship, and market-ready vocational training, with special emphasis on empowering youth and women. It will also work to preserve and commercialise traditional skills, local crafts, and indigenous knowledge.

To ensure progress and accountability, the sub-committee has been mandated to meet at least once a month.

It will assess ground realities, identify best practices, and submit a monthly progress report detailing its activities, findings, and strategic recommendations to the DCโ€™s office for review.

With the chairperson’s approval, the committee may also co-opt subject-matter experts and department representatives as special invitees to address specific development agendas.
