Kokrajhar: Project BUNIYAAD (Whole School Transformation), an initiative aimed at improving foundational learning among children in government schools, was launched in Assam’s Kokrajhar with support from the Northeast Centre for Equity Action on Integrated Development (NEAID) and the Dr. KR. Shroff Foundation.
The programme was launched at the District Commissioner’s Conference Hall and will cover 30 government schools in the district.
The launch programme was attended by District Commissioner Pankaj Chakravarty, Additional Deputy Commissioner Suprava Ray, District Programme Officer of Samagra Shiksha Assam Biju Basumatary, FLN Consultant Sangeeta Kissan, all four Block Elementary Education Officers (BEEOs), 21 Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs) and other education officials.
Speaking at the event, District Commissioner Pankaj Chakravarty said strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy requires innovative teaching methods and data-driven interventions.
He called for prioritising schools in the district’s six Vibrant Villages and other marginalised communities to address learning gaps and improve access to quality education.
He also appreciated the partnership between NEAID and the Dr. KR. Shroff Foundation and said the initiative could serve as a model for wider implementation in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the NIPUN Bharat Mission, Gunotsav and the Performance Grading Index (PGI).
Additional Deputy Commissioner Suprava Ray, BEEOs, CRCCs from the intervention clusters and NEAID officials were also present at the launch programme.
