Guwahati: President Droupadi Murmu has given her assent to the Bill amending the anti-paper leak law, clearing the way for tougher action against examination-related malpractices across the country.
The amendment, passed by Parliament earlier this week, strengthens the existing legal framework by introducing stricter penalties for those involved in leaking question papers and other forms of exam fraud.
The revised law is aimed at protecting the integrity of public examinations and deterring organised networks engaged in paper leaks. The Centre has argued that stronger legal provisions are necessary to curb examination-related crimes that affect millions of students and undermine the credibility of recruitment and entrance tests.
With the President’s assent, the amended legislation has now become law. The changes are expected to empower authorities to take tougher action against individuals and groups involved in paper leak rackets, while reinforcing safeguards to ensure fair and transparent examinations.
The government has maintained that the amended law will strengthen confidence in the examination system by ensuring stricter accountability and serving as a stronger deterrent against cheating and organised examination fraud.
