Dimapur: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) on Friday said all relief and rescue operations will be coordinated only through the respective District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) at the district level.
The NSDMA issued the notification to all NGOs, church organisations, civil-based organisations and well-wishers following extensive damage caused by heavy rainfall, landslides and flash floods across the state.
The move is aimed at ensuring the smooth, equitable and accountable distribution of relief materials.
It said the decision was necessary to avoid duplication and ensure that relief items reach all affected families and villages.
The NSDMA further said individuals, NGOs and organisations intending to provide relief in cash or kind may contact and route their assistance through the office of the respective District Disaster Management Authority chairman.
It urged all concerned to treat the matter as urgent and ensure compliance.
Meanwhile, the Longleng district administration and District Disaster Management Authority, along with Phomla Hoichem and the Phom Students’ Conference, distributed emergency relief fund assistance and ration relief to landslide-affected families in Alayung, Yaongyimchen, Yachem and Noksosang villages of the district on Thursday.
The relief was provided to families whose houses were damaged or rendered unsafe due to landslides and ground subsidence that occurred from July 19 onwards.
A total of 55 households across the four villages have been affected by landslides and rainfall.
