North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE), Shillong, Meghalaya is inviting applications from eligible candidates for recruitment to the posts or jobs of Assistant Professors in 2026.
Name of post : Assistant Professor (Physical Science)
No. of posts : 1
Salary : Rs. 45,000/- per month
Essential Qualification:
1. Postgraduate degree in Sciences (Physics/Chemistry) with minimum 55% marks for General candidates and 50% for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Differently-abled candidates.
2. M.Ed. degree with minimum 55% marks.
Besides fulfilling the above qualification, candidates should have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET)/SLET/SET in the relevant subject for Assistant Professor conducted by the University Grant Commission. Provided candidates, who have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./ Ph.D. Degree) Regulation, 2009, or the University Grants Commission Regulation, 2016, or the University Grants Commission Regulation, 2022, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant
Professor or any equivalent position in any University, College or Institution.

1. Postgraduate degree in Social Sciences (History/Political Science/Geography/Economics) with minimum 55% marks for General candidates and 50% for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ Differently-abled candidates.
2. M.Ed. degree with minimum 55% marks.
Besides fulfilling the above qualification, candidates should clear the National Eligibility Test (NET)/SLET/SET in the relevant subject for Assistant Professor conducted by the University Grant Commission. Selection Procedure :
Interested candidates should report between 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on 06th August, 2026 at NERIE, Shillong
