Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday described the CPI(M) headquarters located in Melarmath, Agartala, and its branch offices across the state as institutions of lies and falsehood.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating a temple at Motorstand, Saha said, “This party is extremely skilled in spreading lies and manufacturing false and fabricated facts. I admit that they make good presentations. They feel that if they present lies in a sophisticated way, people will believe them.”
The Chief Minister was reacting to a statement by a CITU leader claiming that labourers from Tripura had been going to Bangladesh to earn a livelihood due to a scarcity of work in the state.
Hitting out at Leader of Opposition Jitendra Choudhury, Saha said, “The CPI(M) leaders try to brand our party as a party of goons, but what we have witnessed in Belonia draws a starkly opposite picture. Their (CPI(M)’s) leaders are behaving like goons. The language used by the Leader of Opposition against a police officer is objectionable, and we condemn it.”
When asked about the royal heritage sites of Agartala city that had been neglected, Saha said, “Our government has been working hard to rebuild and revive the long-neglected infrastructure from the royal era. After completing the retrofitting work of Pushpabanta Palace, it has been handed over for development as a luxury hotel. Rs 1.5 crore has been spent on renovating and repairing the royal cremation ground. ADB-funded projects are being implemented at Kasba Temple, and we all know about the Tripura Sundari Temple, which has been redeveloped in recent years.”
Saha inaugurated the Shri Narasingha Devata and Shri Ram Janaki temples at Motorstand. He also participated in the prayers earlier.
