NSCN-IM Manipur ceasefire
The NSCN-IM alleged that security forces carried out unauthorized raids and door-to-door searches without judicial warrants.

Imphal: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has strongly condemned the “ongoing harassment” of civilians by Indian security forces in and around TM Kasom village and Makuilongdi in Manipur.

The armed group has accused the military of repeatedly violating the mutually agreed Ceasefire Ground Rules.

According to an official statement, recent security operations in the area have escalated to alarming levels. The NSCN-IM alleged that security forces carried out unauthorized raids and door-to-door searches without judicial warrants.

It also claimed that four civilians had been abducted and that residential areas had been heavily militarised.

The group further alleged that the repeated military operations undermine the credibility of the Indo-Naga peace talks. “Civilians caught in the midst of any conflict, justified or not, deserve protection, not persecution,” the organisation said, adding that peaceful villages had been turned into zones of fear and control.

Reminding the Government of India that the Ceasefire Ground Rules are a bilateral agreement, the NSCN-IM said unilateral actions undermine mutual trust. It urged New Delhi to immediately investigate the alleged violations of the Ceasefire Ground Rules, strictly adhere to the terms of the Ceasefire Agreement, and allow international and independent human rights monitoring in the affected areas.

The NSCN-IM concluded its statement by calling for genuine dialogue rather than governing “through the barrel of a gun”, while reaffirming that the Naga people remain committed to pursuing a lasting and honourable solution.

Meanwhile, in a bid to intensify counter-insurgency operations, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), and Manipur Police, conducted a joint search and sanitisation operation in the TM Kasom area of Ukhrul district on July 14, 2026.

A Defence statement issued on Wednesday said the early morning operation followed a recent ambush by anti-national elements near Shangshak on National Highway 202.

Meanwhile, the Manipur government said senior district officials and security personnel met at the Mini Secretariat in Kamjong on July 15 to review and strengthen public safety measures.

Chaired by Deputy Commissioner L.N. Kashung and Superintendent of Police Tholu Rocky, the meeting was attended by officials from the 11 Assam Rifles, BSF, and the 11th IRB.

The discussions focused on coordinating security operations with civil administration to improve crisis preparedness, strengthen regional stability, enhance information flow, and build public trust in law enforcement.
