Manipur Kanto Sabal arson
The Manipur government on Saturday criticised the violence and arson at Kanto Sabal village in Imphal West and announced the arrest of two individuals suspected of involvement.

Imphal: The Manipur Government has condemned the arson and mob violence at Kanto Sabal village in Imphal West, stating that two people allegedly involved in the incident have been arrested.

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said the Manipur Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed in large numbers to prevent any further escalation.

Condemning the incident as an attempt by vested interests to derail the ongoing peace process after a prolonged period of calm, the Chief Minister appealed to the public to remain peaceful and cooperate with the authorities.

“I urge everyone to remain calm, refrain from spreading rumours, and cooperate with the authorities,” he said. “The Government is committed to maintaining peace, protecting every citizen, and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.”

Security has also been strengthened across the sensitive fringe areas of the Imphal Valley to maintain law and order and prevent any communal clashes.
