Dimapur: Reviewing the ongoing programmes, achievements and future plans of the Tribal Affairs Department at Lok Bhavan in Kohima on Thursday, Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav called for effective implementation of tribal development schemes, timely completion of infrastructure projects and efficient utilisation of available resources to ensure that developmental benefits reach the intended beneficiaries.

He also stressed the importance of close monitoring, transparency and coordinated efforts among all stakeholders for the holistic development of tribal communities across Nagaland.

During the meeting, the department made a detailed presentation on its functioning, major schemes, infrastructure projects and their implementation status across the state.

Officials presented details of budget allocations, progress under Article 275(1), the Development Actionโ€“Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan (DA-JGUA), the Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAAGY), and the implementation of various community infrastructure projects benefiting tribal areas.

Yadav reviewed the status of completed and ongoing projects and also assessed the progress of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in the state.

Officials informed that three EMRSs are currently functional, with a total enrolment of 751 students. All three schools achieved a 100% pass percentage in the HSLC Examination 2026.

The governor was also briefed on the construction progress of new EMRS campuses across various districts and the challenges affecting their timely completion, including land-related issues, power and water connectivity, and approach roads.

The review meeting was attended by senior officers of the Tribal Affairs Department and officials from the Governorโ€™s Secretariat.
