Agartala: Tripura has received preliminary investment proposals and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth more than Rs 70,000 crore ahead of the two-day Destination Tripura: Business Conclave 2026, which begins on July 9, state Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma said on Wednesday.
Briefing reporters, Chakma said more than 300 investors and business organisations have confirmed their participation in the conclave. She added that discussions on several additional investment proposals are at an advanced stage and are expected to be finalised during the event.
She said the conclave will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Manik Saha at the International Fair Ground in Hapania on Thursday.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will address the gathering virtually, while Union DoNER and Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia will attend the inaugural session.
According to the minister, special invitees include Cabinet Secretariat Special Secretary Keshav Kumar Pathak, Chief Economic Adviser V. Anantha Nageswaran, representatives from nine countries, including Bangladesh, the Philippines, Timor-Leste, Lao PDR, Kazakhstan, Chile, Nepal, Uzbekistan and South Africa, besides industry leaders, financial institutions and business associations.
Chakma said the state government had organised investor roadshows in New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Guwahati, generating 189 investment intents valued at around Rs 6,457 crore. The Delhi roadshow attracted 33 investment intents worth Rs 1,520 crore, Hyderabad 56 intents worth Rs 2,190.5 crore, Bengaluru 42 intents worth Rs 1,424 crore and Guwahati 58 intents worth Rs 1,322.7 crore.
She said around 1,500 investors had been contacted and invited to the conclave. Invitations were also sent to 113 embassies, high commissions and consulates, while outreach efforts were undertaken with international trade and investment promotion organisations, including JETRO and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The minister said major companies expected to participate include Lulu Group International, Ambuja Neotia, Tata Consultancy Services, Salesforce, CTRL-S, Jindal Group, Neelkantha Infra Power Limited, NDR Infrastructure Pvt Ltd and several others.
The conclave will focus on sectors such as tourism, healthcare, education, IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS), renewable energy, food processing, rubber, agar, bamboo and agarwood.
The first day will feature the inaugural session, sector-specific investment sessions, networking meetings, exchange of MoUs and presentations on state policies and incentives.
The second day will include business-to-government meetings, discussions on deregulation, compliance reduction, economic and business reforms, along with further exchanges of MoUs and investment announcements.
The minister said stalls showcasing the state’s investment ecosystem and policies will also be set up during the conclave.
