Pasighat: Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng on Monday distributed seven grass cutters to community organisations and youth groups from Arunachal Pradesh’sย Ayeng and Kiyit villages to support village cleanliness and environmental conservation.
The distribution programme was held at Ayeng village under the Mebo Sub-Division in the presence of senior administrative officials, local leaders and village elders.
The beneficiaries included Regam Sirum, Baba-II Sirum, Mitet Sirum, Mijin Sirum, Top Sirum, Yameng Lepang Sirum from Ayeng village and Siyon Sirum from Kiyit village.
According to the organisers, the grass cutters were funded by individuals from the Mebo area, including Liyon Borang, Gobo Yirang, Bomni Tayeng, Bomyem Tayeng, Milorai Modi, Dilem Modi and Advocate Magyar Lego, President of BBYK.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Mebo, Circle Officer (CO) Mebo, ZPM Mebo Banggo-I and village elders attended the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Tayeng said community participation is important for maintaining a clean and sustainable environment.
“The commitment shown by our youth and community organizations gives hope for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable tomorrow. A clean environment begins with a committed community,” he said.
He also appreciated the youth of Kiyit village for participating in village cleanliness activities.
The MLA thanked members of the Eco-Clean Mebo Mission (ECMM), including ADC-cum-Chairperson Nancy Yirang, Mission Manager Olen Megu Damin and Circle Officer Toimi Tagi, for supporting community-based environmental initiatives.
The programme concluded with an appeal for greater community participation in maintaining public spaces and promoting cleanliness across villages in the Mebo constituency.
According to the organisers, the initiative is intended to support the ongoing Eco-Clean Mebo Mission and encourage local organisations and youth groups to participate in environmental conservation efforts.
