Guwahati: The Guwahati Police Commissionerate has imposed prohibitory orders around all 15 examination centres for the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) Preliminary Examination, 2025, to be held on July 5.

The restrictions, imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, aim to ensure the smooth, fair and transparent conduct of the examination and prevent any law and order issues, according to an order issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) Nirupam Hazarika.

More than 13,500 candidates are expected to appear for the examination at the 15 centres under the Guwahati Police Commissionerate.

Under the order, the entry of all persons, except candidates and officials engaged in conducting and monitoring the examination, has been prohibited within a 100-metre radius of the examination centres.

Candidates carrying valid admit cards, examination officials, police personnel on duty and authorised representatives of the APSC, the district administration and the government have been exempted from the restriction.

Police said the prohibitory order was issued in view of concerns over the misuse of internet-based mobile applications and attempts by outsiders to interfere with the conduct of recruitment examinations on previous occasions.

The restrictions will remain in force throughout July 5. Any violation will attract action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
