Doomdooma: Assam’s senior police leadership conducted a comprehensive review of the district’s law and order situation and counter-insurgency preparedness amid the arrest of two suspected ULFA cadres on Friday in Tinsukia district.
Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) Akhilesh Kumar Singh, IPS, and Inspector General of Police (Operations) Jitmol Doley, IPS, visited on June 25 and 26 to assess the operational readiness of the District Executive Force (DEF) and review the prevailing security scenario.
The two senior officers chaired a high-level coordination meeting at the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Mayank Kumar Jha, attended by representatives of the police, intelligence, and other security agencies operating in the district.
Deliberations centred on strengthening counter-insurgency measures, enhancing intelligence-sharing mechanisms, reviewing operational preparedness, and reinforcing inter-agency coordination to effectively respond to evolving security challenges.
The review assumed added significance as Tinsukia Police, assisted by central security agencies, simultaneously pursued investigations into the arrest of two suspected active ULFA (I) cadres from Jagun.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police recovered two AK-56 assault rifles, 172 rounds of ammunition, two hand grenades, and other military-grade supplies.
Officials said the review was aimed at ensuring sustained operational readiness against insurgent threats.
