Imphal: A villager sustained gunshot injuries after unidentified armed men allegedly opened fire on civilians working in agricultural fields near Joujangtek village in Manipur’s Noney district on Thursday afternoon.
According to sources, the incident occurred around noon when villagers were engaged in routine farming activities. The firing triggered panic among residents, forcing many to flee the area.
One villager suffered gunshot injuries to the arm and chest and was rushed for medical treatment. His condition was not immediately known at the time of filing this report.
Joujangtek village is located along the Imphal-Khoupum Road in Noney district.
The identity of the assailants and the motive behind the attack remain unclear.
Security forces and local authorities are expected to investigate the incident. An official statement from the police or district administration is awaited.
