On June 16, a suspected militant was killed during a joint operation carried out by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles in the area between Molphei and Songkong villages. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, security forces launched an operation and came under fire from suspected militants. The forces retaliated, resulting in the death of one suspected militant.

During the operation, security personnel recovered an AK-47 rifle, magazines, ammunition, explosives and other incriminating materials from the encounter site. A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.

Meanwhile, in response to recent community clashes and armed disturbances, combined teams of security forces have intensified cordon-and-search operations in sensitive and vulnerable areas of Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and Thoubal districts.

To strengthen security, checkpoints (nakas) have been established at key locations across the affected areas. The Director General of Police (DGP), Manipur, is personally monitoring the ongoing combing and area domination operations aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of residents.
