Imphal: Manipur Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Singh has announced a cash incentive of Rs 1 lakh for police personnel who participated in a recent operation that led to the recovery of a significant quantity of looted weapons and ammunition.
The announcement was made during the DGP’s visit to the Imphal East District Police Headquarters, his second visit to the facility within four days. During the interaction, Singh commended the officers and personnel for their role in the operation and lauded their efforts in strengthening security across the state.
According to an official statement issued on Tuesday, nearly 70 per cent of the firearms looted from state armouries since the outbreak of ethnic violence have now been recovered. Authorities estimate that more than 6,000 police weapons were taken during the unrest and intensive efforts are continuing to trace and recover the remaining arms.
While reviewing the district’s overall policing situation, the DGP assessed law-and-order conditions, crime trends, and ongoing operational activities. He stressed the importance of conducting professional investigations, ensuring effective supervision at senior levels and expediting the disposal of sensitive and high-priority cases.
Singh also called for enhanced vigilance against insurgent activities and directed officers to intensify operations targeting anti-social and anti-national elements. Emphasising the need for a people-centric approach to policing, he urged personnel to remain proactive in maintaining peace and public safety.
Highlighting the importance of discipline and ethical conduct within the force, the DGP encouraged officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism while carrying out their duties.
Expressing satisfaction with the performance of the Imphal East district police, Singh praised their commitment and urged them to continue working with dedication to strengthen public trust and ensure a secure environment for citizens.
