Bajali: Four individuals have been arrested in Assamโs Bajali district for their alleged role in an interstate cyber fraud racket, police officials said on Sunday.
The arrested persons have been identified as Jitumoni Roy, Ranjan Das, Aditya Tiwari and Rahul Kumar. They were taken into custody during a targeted operation carried out by Sarupeta Police under the supervision of Bajali Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bhabarnath.
According to investigators, the accused are suspected to have links with a cybercrime network operating across multiple states. Preliminary findings indicate that the group allegedly used Customer Service Centres (CSCs) as a platform to facilitate fraudulent activities.
Police said the crackdown was launched following specific intelligence inputs about suspicious cyber transactions and other unlawful digital activities in the area. During the course of the investigation, officers reportedly uncovered evidence suggesting the involvement of the accused in a larger organised cyber fraud syndicate.
Authorities are continuing their probe to trace other members of the network and assess the overall scale of the operation. Officials indicated that more arrests could follow as the investigation progresses.
Meanwhile, police have advised the public to remain vigilant while conducting online financial transactions and to immediately report any suspected cybercrime through the nearest police station or cybercrime helpline.
