Security forces arrested two RPF cadres and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition across multiple operations in Manipur.

Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have arrested two active cadres of the proscribed Revolutionary Peopleโ€™s Front (RPF), the political wing of the banned Peopleโ€™s Liberation Army (PLA), and recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition during multiple operations carried out over the past 36 hours.

According to Manipur Police, the arrests were made at Waithou Sangomsang near a stone crusher area under Lilong Police Station in Thoubal district. The detained individuals have been identified as Sanasam Sanamatum Meitei alias Tompok alias Oneman (32) from Wangoo Laipham Chithek Chingya Awang in Kakching district and Yengkokpam Premchand Singh alias Chingsanglakpa (26) from Thoubal Athokpam Sandhabung in Thoubal district. A two-wheeler bearing registration number MN01L8210 was also seized from their possession.

In a separate operation, security forces recovered a cache of weapons from the area between Border Pillars 72 and 73, around 12 km south of the Chonjang Company Operating Base along the Indo-Myanmar border under Moreh Police Station in Tengnoupal district. The seized items included a country-made lathode gun, a 9mm pistol with magazine, a .22 USA pistol with magazine, four radio sets and remnants of four improvised explosive devices.

In another recovery operation, a large quantity of arms and ammunition was seized from Kameng Mamang Leikai and adjoining areas under Lamsang Police Station in Imphal West district.

The recovered arsenal included one AK rifle with magazine, one INSAS rifle with magazine, six bolt-action single-barrel guns, nine pistols with magazines, one INSAS LMG magazine, 13 rounds of AK ammunition, four rounds of INSAS ammunition and 310 rounds of .380 ammunition.
