Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has directed law enforcement agencies to arrest those responsible for the killing of three Kuki villagers and the arson of seven houses in the early hours of Friday in Kangpokpi district.
In an official statement, the Chief Minister condemned the attack at Loibol Khullen village, calling it brutal and unacceptable.
The incident left three civilians from the Kuki community dead, while seven houses were set on fire.
Terming the act heinous and cowardly, he said the deliberate targeting of unarmed civilians would not be tolerated and assured that those responsible would be brought to justice.
He instructed state police and central security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and strengthen security in vulnerable areas. He also directed officials to provide relief to affected families.
Separately, the Chief Minister condemned the fatal stabbing of Havildar Kh. Suresh Singh of the 4th India Reserve Battalion, attached to the Commando unit in Thoubal, who was on duty on June 3, 2026.
He praised Thoubal district police for arresting the main accused on June 4, 2026, and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
