According to the Chief Minister, the projects aim to improve connectivity and support overall development in the region.

Guwahati: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday laid the foundation stones for three major road infrastructure projects at Latyrke Playground in East Jaintia Hills district, with a total investment of around Rs 412 crore.

The projects include the upgradation of the Dkhiahโ€“Sutngaโ€“Saipungโ€“Pala stretch up to Semmasi Road, estimated at around Rs 355 crore.

Other works involve strengthening the Dkhiahโ€“Sutngaโ€“Saipungโ€“Moulseiโ€“Haflong Road with an allocation of Rs 10.3 crore, and the improvement of the Sutngaโ€“Khaddum Road along with better access to the Chympe Waterfalls at a cost of Rs 46.75 crore.

According to the Chief Minister, the projects aim to improve connectivity and support overall development in the region.

He said better roads would improve access to education and healthcare, create economic opportunities, and boost tourism.

He added that improved infrastructure would help connect communities more effectively and that the state government remains committed to strengthening infrastructure and accelerating development across Meghalaya.
