Dimapur: The Nagaland government on Wednesday issued a directive asking officials of various government departments and the public to follow the step-by-step user guide for self-enumeration for the 15-day Phase-I Census 2027 exercise beginning June 16.

The self-enumeration process will be carried out through the portal https://se.census.gov.in.

According to a government notification, self-enumeration (SE) is a process under the census exercise in which residents fill in and submit their household data online.

The SE portal will remain open for 15 days prior to the commencement of house-to-house listing operations (HLO) by enumerators. The opening date and active period of the portal will be displayed online.

The notification stated that the self-enumeration process may take approximately 15 to 20 minutes and that a unique self-enumeration ID (SE ID) will be generated after successful submission.

It also listed nine steps for self-enumeration through the portal, including access and initial login, household registration, language selection and OTP verification, residence location details, locating the residence on the map, completion of the questionnaire, review of entered data, final submission and field validation.

The notification said the directive was issued under Rule 8(ii)b&(vii) of the Census Rules, 1990, framed under the Census Act, 1948, and in line with the governmentโ€™s Digital India initiative.
