Imphal: Joint security forces recovered four improvised explosive devices (IEDs), firearms and communication equipment near the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipurโs Tengnoupal district, officials said on Thursday.
The operation was carried out by the Indian Army, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police based on intelligence inputs regarding the presence of anti-social elements near Border Pillars 72 and 73 under Moreh Police Station.
During the search operation, conducted with the assistance of a sniffer dog, the joint team recovered one SLR rifle, one 9 mm pistol with a magazine, four radio sets, one radio set charger and four IEDs. The explosive devices were destroyed on site, officials said.
The recovery came days after the arrest of three alleged insurgents near Border Pillars 77 and 79 under the same police station.
According to reports, Wangthoi Nahakpam alias Lingjel (20), Nanaoba Nandeibam alias Angou (19), and Malem Oinam alias Manithoiba (20) were arrested on May 18.
