Imphal: The Kuki Studentsโ Organisation, Sadar Hills (KSO-SH), has issued a blistering indictment against Manipur’s Senapati district police, accusing the Superintendent of Police and Officer-in-Charge of grave dereliction of duty and active connivance in the abduction of 14 Kuki-Zo civilians, including three students.
The body has given a 48-hour ultimatum for their safe release and also warned that any continued inaction or silence from the authorities would be viewed as direct complicity.
The student body alleges that 25 civilians were escorted from Senapati by state police on May 13, purportedly for their protection following the brutal killing of three Church leaders in an ambush in Kangpokpi district on the same day.
However, the police allegedly abandoned the civilians to assailants and members of the Senapati District Studentsโ Association (SDSA) less than a kilometre from both the police station and the SPโs office.
Noting that three of the captives are students, KSO-SH has strongly condemned the abduction of unarmed civilians and youths for political purposes.
The organisation reiterated that any continued inaction or silence from the authorities would be viewed as direct complicity.
The student group has demanded the immediate termination of the Senapati SP and OC and the unconditional release of all hostages, warning of relentless democratic agitation that could paralyse normalcy if its demands are not met.
