Traditionally, Rubber is a tropical crop and is grown in the favorable climate of Tripura. In 1963, Rubber plants were introduced by the forest department under the state government. For cultivating rubber in the state, hot and moist climate is highly suitable.
The plantation of rubber once historically created a huge impact over the local population as it has influenced the economy of the state but the fall in the price is forcing the common people to shift to other modes of cultivation.
However this particular unit aims at improving the quality of the rubber sheets which will also improve the income from rubber cultivation.
