Nagaland National Lok Adalat
Nagalandโ€™s 2nd quarter National Lok Adalat disposed of 220 cases across districts, including bank recovery, MACT, and civil matters.

Dimapur: A total of 402 cases were taken up across Nagaland during the 2nd quarter National Lok Adalat, out of which 220 cases were successfully settled.

According to an official statement issued on Monday, 11 benches were constituted at the district headquarters of various District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) under the supervision of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA).

The disposal rate in the National Lok Adalat stood at nearly 54 percent. The cases handled at the pre-litigation stage included bank recovery, loan recovery, and telephone bill related matters, while pending cases involved compoundable criminal offences, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) matters, and other civil disputes.

In Dimapur, the DDLSA organised the Lok Adalat at the district court under the leadership of chairman N. Longshithung Ezung and secretary Atoka Achumi.

During the proceedings, 60 bank recovery cases involving Rs 46,01,223 and 36 BSNL related cases worth Rs 37,988 were settled at the pre-litigation stage. Additionally, six MACT cases amounting to Rs 53,30,000 were resolved. Altogether, 102 cases were settled in Dimapur with a total settlement value of Rs 99,69,211.

The Kohima DLSA also conducted the Lok Adalat at the district court complex, where 156 cases including 123 pre-litigation and three pending matters were taken up. Of these, 23 cases were settled, involving a total amount of Rs 17,22,048.

Similarly, the Mokokchung DLSA organised the 2nd quarter National Lok Adalat at the district court complex. Other DLSAs across the state also held Lok Adalat proceedings in their respective district courts.

Overall, 10 pre-litigation bank recovery cases were taken up, out of which eight were settled with a total settlement amount of Rs 16,44,000.
