Guwahati: The All Manipur Excise Employees Welfare Association has announced an indefinite cease-work strike from May 18 over the state governmentโ€™s failure to implement the Revised Pay (ROP) 2016 for excise department employees.

The organization stated in a notice on May 11 that the decision was made after the authorities’ repeated appeals, guarantees, and representations failed to address the long-standing demand for a pay revision.

The association claims that despite constant follow-up with the relevant departments, the implementation of Revised Pay (ROP) 2016 for excise personnel has not yet been completed, which has increased employee discontent in Manipur‘s Excise Department.

In addition to the updated compensation demand, the employees’ organization requested that ration money benefits be extended and that excise personnel receive 13 months’ worth of salary benefits equivalent to those of police officers.

In the interest of Excise Department personnel, the notification expressed hope that the government will take action immediately and positively to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

The state administration is currently under pressure from several employee organizations regarding unfulfilled service-related requests and financial advantages, which coincides with the declaration of the strike.
