Guwahati: BJP leader Jayanta Malla Baruah has registered a decisive win in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections from the Nalbari constituency, finishing with 1,18,611 votes.

He defeated his nearest rival by a margin of more than 60,101 votes.

The result adds to the strong performance of the BJP-led NDA in the state.

The alliance is moving towards a third straight term in government under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Following the result, celebrations were reported in Nalbari as counting trends continued to favour the alliance.

The Nalbari result is among the constituencies with a high victory margin in the Assam Assembly election.
