Dibrugarh: Landslides and a strong windstorm triggered widespread damage to power infrastructure in Arunachal Pradeshโ€™s Tirap district, disrupting electricity supply in several areas under the Khonsa division.

According to officials, multiple 33 kV and 11 kV power lines were severely damaged following the overnight weather disturbances, with restoration work currently underway.

โ€œThe affected areas include 33 kV and 11 kV lines in Khonsa town, the 33 kV line at Pansumthong, and the 11 kV line at Hollam. Landslides have washed away electric poles and disrupted power supply across multiple locations,โ€ an official said.

Officials said continuous heavy rainfall across the district has significantly hampered restoration efforts by field staff.

โ€œDue to the ongoing adverse weather conditions, power supply lines under the Khonsa Electrical Sub-Division have been completely damaged at several points,โ€ the official added.

Authorities said restoration of electricity may take around three to four days, subject to improvement in weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the Power Department appealed to residents to bear with the inconvenience and assured that all possible efforts were being made to restore power supply at the earliest.
