Guwahati: In a key development in the death case of Assam singer Zubeen Garg, the fast-track court in Guwahati is set to decide on Saturday, May 2, the bail plea of Siddharth Sharma.
Sharma, who earlier served as Gargโs manager, has been charged in connection with the singerโs death that occurred last year during a yacht party in Singapore.
Judge Sharmila Bhuyanโs court heard detailed arguments from both sides on Sharmaโs bail application on April 28 and reserved its decision.
During the hearing, the defence claimed that Sharmaโs role was strictly limited to managing professional work and that he had no duty related to the singerโs personal protection.
They further argued that his responsibilities were confined to arranging events and handling work-related schedules, and he could not be held responsible for Gargโs safety.
The prosecution, however, firmly opposed the bail request and rejected these claims.
The bail application of another accused in the case, Shyamkanu Mahanta, was also rejected by the court on April 30.
