Kuki men arrested in Kangpokpi

Imphal: Manipur Police have arrested three Kuki individuals who were caught on CCTV pouring diesel on the walls of a house in Daili village in Kangpokpi district on Saturday night. The suspects were apprehended on Sunday from a hideout in the district, police reported on Monday.

Following an investigation into an FIR registered at Kangpokpi Police Station regarding an attempt to burn a tyre workshop in Daili village, police identified the suspects by scanning CCTV footage installed at the location.

They were later identified as Mangminhao Lotjem, Satgoulal Sitlhou, and Seigunlal Lhanghal, all belonging to the Kuki-Zo community.

According to the FIR, the individuals arrived in a Mahindra Bolero with Nagaland registration numbers, halting along the national highway on April 24 at around 10 pm. CCTV footage captured them pouring diesel on the walls of a house adjacent to the highway in a deliberate attempt to set it ablaze.

The Daili Village Council, Mao Council (MC), and Mao Studentsโ€™ Union (MSU), in separate statements, condemned the incident and urged the administration to take immediate measures to ensure residentsโ€™ safety and prevent future occurrences.
