NSCN (IM) cadre surrenders in Tirap

Guwahati: Based on intelligence inputs about the presence of an NSCN (IM) cadre in the general area of Sanliam in Arunachal Pradeshโ€™s Tirap district, the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles launched an operation.

Upon reaching the suspected hideout, personnel made contact with the individual and persuaded him to surrender. Officials said continued engagement and discussions led the insurgent to give up arms and return to the mainstream.

Following the process, the individual surrendered and was taken into custody at COB Laju.

Officials said the operation was based on intelligence inputs and negotiation efforts that led to a peaceful surrender.

Assam Rifles said it remains committed to maintaining peace and stability in the region and will continue efforts to encourage individuals involved in insurgent activities to return to normal life.
