Manipur Ukhrul operation
In the operation, security forces arrested PREPAK-PRO cadre Sorokhaibam Pathou Meitei (25) of Chairen Mangjing, Moirang, Bishnupur district.

Imphal: Officials reported on Monday that central security forces and state police arrested an insurgent and destroyed three bunkers after unidentified gunmen fired on civilians at TM Kasom in Manipur’s Ukhrul district, resulting in two deaths.

In the operation, security forces arrested an active cadre of the proscribed Peopleโ€™s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak Progressive (PREPAK-PRO), identified as Sorokhaibam Pathou Meitei (25) of Chairen Mangjing, Moirang, in Bishnupur district.

He was apprehended in the Kakching Lamkhai Laipham Loknung area under the jurisdiction of Kakching Police Station.

During a subsequent operation, the joint forces destroyed three bunkers (Yaolen-01 and Paleyao-02) located between the Yaolen and Mongkot Chepu hill ranges under Litan Police Station in Ukhrul district. Additionally, 48 empty cartridges and two live rounds were recovered.

The report stated that the operations were launched after unidentified gunmen, suspected to be militants, fired on civilians at TM Kasom under Litan Police Station in Ukhrul district, killing two people on the spot on Saturday.

Meanwhile, police reported that an unknown man found unconscious at Bora Galli, Thangal Bazar, at around 5:45 pm on April 18, was declared dead on arrival at RIMS Hospital.

According to a press release from the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of City Police Station, the deceased appeared to be around 35 years old, had a round face, and a swarthy complexion (Kulei Kuchu). The man was approximately 5’4″ tall, thinly built, and was wearing an olive green T-shirt and khaki cargo pants.
