Guwahati: The charge framing hearing in the death case of noted Assamese singer Zubeen Garg entered a crucial stage on April 17, with senior advocate Devajit Saikia commencing arguments on behalf of the Assam government before a special fast-track court in Guwahati.

Speaking to reporters after the proceedings, Saikia said the hearing has been underway for the past 15 days and underscored the need for a thorough presentation of the case. He indicated that the prosecution is likely to take six to seven days to complete its submissions, with an effort to ensure that no legal gaps remain.

He added that while he initiated the arguments, other members of the governmentโ€™s legal team will continue the proceedings in the coming days.

The development marks a significant step in the ongoing case as the court moves towards the charge framing stage.
