Aizawl: Mizoram on April 16 formally launched the house listing and housing census operations, marking the beginning of the first phase of the countryโ€™s digital census exercise in the state.

With the launch, Mizoram joined the nationwide rollout of the census process, which is scheduled to continue until May 15.

The programme was inaugurated by Governor Vijay Kumar Singh at Lok Bhavan, where he underscored the importance of accuracy and inclusiveness in the exercise. Addressing officials, he called for dedication and sincerity in carrying out the enumeration and directed field staff to ensure that no household is left out.

The Governor also emphasised the need for public cooperation, urging citizens to actively participate in the process so that every individual and household is properly documented.

As part of the event, an enumerator completed the Governorโ€™s official entry using a Self Enumeration ID (SE-ID), generated through his online self-enumeration conducted earlier on April 7. The step highlighted the integration of digital tools in the census process.

Senior officials from the Directorate of Census Operations, including Census Commissioner Joseph H. Lalthanzama and Additional GAD Secretary and State Nodal Officer Zothanliani Chhangte, were present at the launch.
