Himanta Biswa Sarma wife assets
Addressing a press conference at Rajiv Bhawan on Monday, Khan questioned the BJP government for not forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) even 24 hours after the allegation was raised by the Congress party.

Bongaigaon: All India Congress Committee (AICC) Media Co-ordinator Abbas Hafeez Khan has demanded a probe into the “hidden foreign assets” and “passports” allegedly belonging to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma.

Addressing a press conference at Rajiv Bhawan on Monday, Khan questioned the BJP government for not forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) even 24 hours after the allegation was raised by the Congress party.

Khan said that if Chief Minister Sarma files a legal challenge against the charge, the Congress party will submit strong evidence in support of the allegation.

“We demand that the BJP government investigate the source of the huge funds by which Chief Minister Sarma’s wife purchased foreign assets and examine her foreign passports,” Khan said.

He also called on the election authorities to verify whether Chief Minister Sarma disclosed his wife’s foreign assets in the affidavit submitted with his nomination for the Jalukbari constituency.

Khan further questioned how Chief Minister Sarma’s wife could have cast a vote in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections despite holding two foreign passports, which, he claimed, is clear evidence that she is either a foreign national or not a legitimate citizen of India. He demanded an immediate investigation into this allegation.

Finally, Khan urged Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat to clarify the organisation’s stance on the issue, asking whether, as an ideological mentor, the RSS supports or opposes alleged corruption by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his family.
