A team of SDRF personnel along with family members of Kamal Rajak (26 years) of North Guwahati, arrived in Dhubri on Sunday in search of Rajak’s body in river Brahmaputra, but failed to recover his body during a search operation in the river.

It may be mentioned that Rajak was one of the passengers who were on board the ill-fated boat which capsized in river Brahmaputra at Aswaklanta Ghat in North Guwahati recently.

On a tip-off, two four-member groups of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) along with family members of Rajak arrived Dhubri on Sunday and launched a search operation in river Brahmaputra in Dhubri.

As per information, S Rajak, a relative of deceased Kamal Rajak arrived here as a final search of the body of his 26-year-old nephew and started a massive search operation along with the SDRF personnel in different riverine areas of mighty river Brahmaputra in Dhubri district since 10 am but even after a 8-hour-long search operation, the family members and the SDRF team failed to recover the deceased’s body.

Later, all the family members of the deceased returned to Guwahati on Sunday evening empty-handed.

T Bhuyan, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Probation), Dhubri said the Border Security Force (BSF) has also been alerted to keep watch if any body is seen floating on river Brahmaputra.
