Guwahati: Four suspected cadres of the Eastern Flank of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim were killed in a late-night attack at Hongbei village under Kasom Khullen block in Manipur’s Kamjong district on Saturday.
The incident occurred around 9.20 p.m., when the victims were travelling along the Imphal–Kasom Khullen road. According to sources, they were ambushed shortly after reaching Hongbei village while inside their vehicle.
Of the six occupants, two managed to escape, while the remaining four were killed on the spot.
The deceased have been identified as Captain Sochipem from Marao village, Sergeant Zairei from Halang village, Corporal Bahnlei from Eastern Nagaland, and Corporal Thansomi from Mapao village.
The motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.
Police from Kasom Khullen conducted a spot inquiry on the morning of March 29, following the incident.
