Dimapur: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Thursday urged the people of the state to observe Earth Hour on March 28 by switching off non-essential lights and reducing energy consumption from 8.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.
In a message, the Governor called upon the citizens to extend full cooperation in the global initiative, describing it as a symbolic act of solidarity for the planet.
Earth Hour, organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), seeks to raise awareness about climate change, energy conservation and environmental sustainability.
Stating that Earth Hour is more than just turning off lights, Yadav said it serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to protect the environment. He urged citizens to use the occasion to reflect on their role and commit to meaningful climate action.
He also encouraged people to observe the event in a spirit of unity and responsibility, and to adopt sustainable, energy-saving practices in their daily lives.
As part of the observance, Lok Bhavan Nagaland will switch off non-essential lights and electrical appliances during the hour as a symbolic gesture of commitment towards environmental conservation, he added.
