Dimapur: The Naga Students Federation (NSF) on Friday demanded the termination of โillegal appointmentsโ in 109 posts across 16 Nagaland government departments within 45 days.
In a letter to the state chief secretary, the federation alleged that these appointments had been executed outside the purview of the Nagaland Staff Selection Board and the Nagaland Public Service Commission from 2018 to 2023, directly violating all procedural regulations for appointments through proper channels.
Referring to its letter dated April 10, 2025, to the state government, the NSF reminded officials that it had submitted a list of illegal appointees made across various departments without advertisement, undermining the principles of meritocracy, transparency, and fairness in public service employment.
The NSF urged the chief secretary to take decisive and immediate action to ensure that the aspirations of thousands of educated, deserving Naga youth, who await fair opportunities in government employment, are not hindered.
The federation said it detected 32 illegal appointments in the Nagaland State Transport Department, 11 in the Public Health Engineering Department, seven in the Sericulture Department, and two in Home Guard & Civil Defense.
It also found three in the Food and Civil Supplies Department, two in the Information & Public Relations Department, four in the Urban Development Department, one in the Taxes Department, three in the Industries and Commerce Department, three in the Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department, three in the Economics & Statistics Department, two in the Law and Justice Department, four in the Agriculture Department, four in the Water Resources Department, 27 in the Nagaland Public Works Department, and one in the Land Records & Survey Department.
