Nagaland University Best Paper awards
Imtilila Jing, a faculty member in the same department, won the Best Paper award for her study on the phenology of three Rhododendron species in Nagaland.

Dimapur: A research scholar and a faculty member of Nagaland University were recognized at the XIX annual conference of the East Himalayan Society for Spermatophyte Taxonomy (EHSST) and the international seminar on โ€œTaxonomy, Biodiversity Conservation, Traditional Knowledge and Sustainable Utilisation of Plant Resourcesโ€ at the University of Calcutta recently, a university release said on Wednesday.

Imnajungla, a research scholar in the Department of Botany at Nagaland University, under the supervision of Viheno Iralu, was awarded the Best Paper Presentation in the theme โ€œEthnobotany and Evaluation of Traditional Knowledgeโ€ for her paper titled โ€œBiocultural Conservation of Indigenous Wild Fruit Trees: Traditional Knowledge and Folk Narratives in Rangkang Community Forest, Nagaland.โ€

Imtilila Jing, a faculty member in the same department, also received the Best Paper Presentation award under the theme โ€œBiodiversity Assessment, Conservation and Applicationโ€ for her study on โ€œPhenology of Three Selected Species of Genus Rhododendron L. (Ericaceae) of Nagaland.โ€

These achievements provide a boost to research on biodiversity conservation and traditional knowledge systems, fostering academic engagement and collaboration to promote ecological sustainability and community-based bioresource conservation in Nagaland.

The University of Calcutta organised the two seminars in collaboration with Mushroom Biotech and the Botanical Survey of India (BSI).
