Guwahati: All Nagaland Ad hoc Teachers Group (ANATG)-2015 batch on February 13 shifted its ongoing hunger strike to the Directorate of School Education in Kohima.
The group intensified its agitation over the regularisation of 1,166 ad hoc teachers. The protest entered its ninth day on Thursday. It also marked the third day of the indefinite hunger strike launched by members of the group.
Office-bearers of ANATG-2015 said they decided to change the protest venue after the government failed to provide a concrete timeline. They also accused the authorities of not making any clear policy commitment on their long-pending demand for service regularisation.
The agitating teachers said they had made repeated appeals to the government. They also held several rounds of discussions with officials. However, the authorities have not given any firm assurance so far. This, they said, forced them to escalate the agitation.
The group reiterated its demand for the immediate regularisation of services. It urged the Government of Nagaland to resolve the issue at the earliest. The teachers warned that they may further intensify the protest if the government fails to act.
