Imphal: Central security forces, together with state forces, have recovered arms, ammunition, explosives and a stolen vehicle during joint operations conducted over the past 48 hours in Imphal East and Tengnoupal districts, officials said on Wednesday.
In Tengnoupal district, the joint team recovered an abandoned Maruti Gypsy from the M. Chanou area in Moreh under Moreh Police Station. The vehicle, bearing registration number MN 01X 4686, had been reported stolen earlier from Imphal, following which a case was registered at Imphal Police Station. Police said further investigation is under way to identify those involved in the theft.
In a separate operation in Imphal East district, security forces recovered a cache of weapons and explosives from the Ngarou Chengjel hill range near Nongdam village under Lamlai Police Station. The items seized included one .303 rifle with a magazine, two 12-bore single-barrel guns, four 9 mm pistols with a magazine each, and three No. 36 hand grenades.
Officials said search operations and area domination exercises are continuing in sensitive locations.
