Aizawl: Mizoram Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh on Tuesday inaugurated โLESDE Kut,โ a five-day mega festival aimed at boosting entrepreneurship and employment, and accelerating innovation.
The event, organised by the stateโs Labour, Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (LESDE) Department, runs from February 10 to 14 at Lammual Ground in Aizawl.
During the ceremony, the Governor launched two initiatives under the Mizoram Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (MBOCWWB): โEizawnna Kailawn,โ a skill development project for registered workers and their dependents, and โRahbi Chhertu,โ designed to create new career pathways for construction families.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh emphasised that the stateโs economic progress depends on creating new livelihoods, empowering youth through skill development, and ensuring the inclusion of women and rural communities.
Highlighting the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector as a national growth engine, the Governor noted that India is globally recognised as a model for fast-growing economies.
He stressed the importance of extending MSME activities to the stateโs most remote villages.
Singh described Mizoram as a region of rich cultural heritage, exceptional craftsmanship, and untapped agro-based potential.
He called for concerted efforts to harness these strengths, noting that the accompanying job fair serves as a vital bridge between job seekers and employers.
In a technology-driven economy, he said, skills must be continuously upgraded.
He urged government officials to support entrepreneurs while prioritising sustainability and quality, and called for the proactive implementation of central government schemes.
LESDE Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, who attended the event, said that innovation emerges from addressing local needs through new businesses and services.
He described the LESDE Department as deeply connected to daily livelihoods and stressed the need for โhand-holdingโ support and market-linked skills to secure employment for Mizo youth.
Hmar expressed confidence that โEizawnna Kailawnโ and โRahbi Chhertuโ would significantly improve lives and appealed to the public to register with the welfare board.
LESDE Kut 2026 is a flagship initiative of the Mizoram government, designed to showcase services, programmes, and achievements under the LESDE Department and its associated boards and institutions.
It aims to bring together youth, MSMEs, entrepreneurs, job seekers, workers, and their leaders to enhance awareness, networking, and opportunities in employment, skills, and entrepreneurship.
Aligned with the national โMake in Indiaโ and โAtmanirbhar Bharatโ campaigns, the event promotes local products and strengthens linkages between Mizoramโs small enterprises and central ministries.
