Imphal: The Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, has summoned the 7th session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly for Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 4 PM.
The summons follows a Cabinet meeting chaired by the newly appointed Chief Minister, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, which passed a resolution after the swearing-in ceremony at Lok Bhavan on February 4, 2026.
In addition to deciding to summon the Assembly, the Cabinet approved the Governorโs address for Thursday and authorized a floor test for the new government. The meeting, held after more than a year, was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Nemcha Kipgen and Losii Dikho, along with newly inducted Ministers Konthoujam Govindas Singh and Khuraijam Loken Singh.
Earlier, on Wednesday evening, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh chaired his first Cabinet meeting at the Chief Ministerโs Secretariat, shortly after taking the oath of office at Lok Bhavan. Following his election as the BJP Legislative Party leader, he staked a claim to form the government.
The Governor of Manipur, on the evening of February 4, 2026, administered the oaths of office and secrecy to Khemchand Singh as the 13th Chief Minister of Manipur.
On the recommendation of the Chief Minister, the Governor also swore in two Deputy Chief Ministers, Nemcha Kipgen and Losii Dikho, and two Ministers, Konthoujam Govindas Singh and Khuraijam Loken Singh, at 6 PM at Lok Bhavan, Imphal.
Meanwhile, four political parties, the National People’s Party (6 members), Naga Peopleโs Front (5 members), Janata Dal-United (1 member), along with two Independent Members, extended their unconditional support to the BJP.
Presidentโs Rule in Manipur had been imposed on February 13, 2025, and was lifted on February 4, 2026, paving the way for Yumnam Khemchand Singh to take oath as the 13th Chief Minister of the state.
