The protest has been called against the delay in releasing their pending salary for five months.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the president of the Association, L. Marngar, appealed to all SSA teachers to support and cooperate with the Association by boycotting the Teachersโ€™ Day celebration in the State.

Earlier, a division surfaced among the teachers with the Meghalaya Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Schoolsโ€™ Association sending an appeal to teachers of SSA-sponsored schools to refrain from taking part in the protest โ€œsince the State Government has been working hard to address the problem.โ€

However, Marngar urged the teachers in different district and blocks to participate in the sit-in-protest to be held at the parking lot near Additional Secretariat here on September 5.

He also expressed surprise over the decision of the Meghalaya Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Schoolsโ€™ Association to oppose the proposed agitation.

โ€œThe MSSASA should understand the problems faced by the teachers who did not get their salary for the past five months,โ€ Marngar said.
