Imphal: A total of 14 personnel of different ranks from Manipur were among the 982 personnel of Police, Fire, Home Guard and Civil Defence (HG&CD), and Correctional Services who were awarded gallantry and service medals on the eve of Republic Day 2026.
Five police personnel from Manipur were among the awardees of the Medal for Gallantry (MG) on the occasion of Republic Day 2026. They are Langoljam Lenin Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector; Sidrath Thokchom, Assistant Sub-Inspector; Thounaojam Nichal Singh, Havildar; Kumam Premananda Singh, Rifleman; and Ngasepam Vim Singh, Constable.
According to a government statement issued on Sunday (January 25, 2026), a total of 125 persons will be awarded the Medal for Gallantry (MG), of which 121 are from the police force and four are from the fire services.
Shashikumar Singh Khuraijam, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Manipur, was also listed among the recipients of the Presidentโs Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM). Out of the 101 Presidentโs Medals for Distinguished Service, 89 have been awarded to Police Service personnel, five to the Fire Service, three to the Civil Defence and Home Guard Service, and four to the Correctional Service.
Altogether, seven Manipur police personnel โ Manbidhu Singh Rajkumar, Superintendent of Police; Dr Ibomcha Singh Sarnagthem, Commandant; Kshetrimayum Prasant Kumar Singh, Assistant Commandant; Nekholal Gangte, Havildar; Premchand Singh Chingkham, Rifleman; Bijen Singh Pukhrambam, Assistant Sub-Inspector; and Kamlesang, Rifleman โ were included in the list of recipients of the Presidentโs Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).
From the fire service, Ranjitkumar Singh Chirom, Sub-Officer, Manipur, was also among the award recipients.
