Imphal: The inaugural function of the International Conference on Advanced Multidisciplinary Sciences and Engineering (ICAMSE 2026) was held on Wednesday at Manipur Technical University (MTU), Imphal.
The three-day conference, scheduled from January 21 to 23, 2026, is being organised by the Department of Basic Sciences, Manipur Technical University, Imphal.
Prof. Madan Mohan Tripathi, Director General of the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Government of India, graced the event as the chief guest.
Drawing on his extensive experience in electronics and information technology, Prof. Tripathi highlighted the role of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, the Internet of Things, and cybersecurity in driving inclusive and sustainable development.
He also stressed the importance of digital skilling and research aligned with real-world challenges.
Prof. Tripathi encouraged institutions, researchers, and students to contribute to nation-building through innovation and commended the organisers for hosting the conference.
Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, President of the event, outlined MTUโs focus on a globally oriented academic and research strategy. He detailed initiatives such as the implementation of the R&D policy, collaborations including a memorandum of understanding with Swansea University for a twinning degree programme, and the introduction of an adjunct faculty scheme to engage international experts.
Prof. Chandbabu also announced plans to launch a research journal, integrate multidisciplinary education across engineering, sciences, humanities, and social sciences, and establish new departments in Biosciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Biomedical Engineering.
More than 140 research papers were submitted for ICAMSE 2026, reflecting strong interest in multidisciplinary research. Prof. Chandbabu welcomed delegates from across India and abroad and expressed hope that the conference would promote collaboration, learning, and academic excellence.
A compilation of conference abstracts was released, and a plenary talk was held, attended by faculty members, officials, staff, and students of MTU and NIELIT.
