Bhattadev University Assam
The state governmentโ€™s plan to relocate the university has raised concerns among residents regarding potential effects on local growth.

Bajali: Assam’s Pathsala is set to see Bhattadev University move its main campus to Medhikuchi in Bhawanipur on December 30.

The relocation is expected to have economic and social impacts on the town, according to local residents.

Bajali College, which was upgraded to Bhattadev University in 2019, has been a significant educational institution in Pathsala, contributing to the townโ€™s recognition and development over the past few years.

The state governmentโ€™s plan to relocate the university has raised concerns among residents regarding potential effects on local growth.

Traders and landlords have highlighted that many had invested substantial amounts, reportedly in lakhs of rupees, to construct or rent out rooms in anticipation of steady income from students.

โ€œNow, after the universityโ€™s shift, our future is uncertain. Many businessmen are facing losses,โ€ said one affected resident.

The relocation is scheduled to take place on December 30, and local authorities have not yet provided detailed plans on mitigating the economic consequences for the town.
